| One of the better appointed cases that dates as late as 1825, echoing the fiat of style from the earlier Chippendale era of American Mid Atlantic clock case making- between about 1770 and 1780. The case is solid black walnut. Note the carved blind frieze above the waist door and the panel on the base with ogee feet. The movement is the eight day bell strike type with a dial attributed to the Philadelphia dial makers Patton and Jones-- with the distinctive conch shell spandrels. It dates to the early 19th century but is not original to this case. The case stands 92" in height, being 10 1/2" deep and 19" wide. | ||||||||
