| A nine tubular "bell" chime hall clock is of the best quality in excellent original condition. It may be that it is a product of the Waltham Company, although sold through Bailey Banks and Biddle of Philadelphia. The case is very close to some known patterns that Waltham used in the early 1900s. Choice mahoganies were used and the finish seem original although not tinted with the dark "Jap-Lac" stains so typical of this early 1900s era. The clockworks may be fit with their #50 movement and #1 dial, and are of the best quality. It has been suggested that an English clockmaker such as Elliott of London actually made the clockworks. (The clock is stamped "Bailey, Banks and Biddle, Philadelphia" on the bottom of the back plate and also so engraved on the dial). Stands about 8' 6" in height. This clock has been well maintained as we believe it is in good running order.RL* | |||||||||||||
