| A good looking late 18th or early 19th century English tall clock. The case work shows exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. The use of choice mahogany "flame" grained components, elaborate inlay, pen work, and styling details such as column clusters make a fine looking case. There is a flared waist door with three Gothic like pinnacles, and the base and waist and hood door are bordered with alternating dark mahogany and satinwood stringing. The hand painted enamel dial, more typical of the period circa 1800-1810, is executed in very high quality, with special attention to the allegorical "four seasons" depicted in the dial corners. The clock itself is a standard eight day running bell strike type, probably from the Liverpool or Manchester, England area. 7' 11" high RL* | ||||||||
