An unusual hand made watch holder with original polychrome paint decoration. The height of the box is 13", and the glazed opening is almost four inches, allowing room to display a watch (on a stand inside) or larger wind up clock. The door opens forward for removal. Made of a pine found in New England.
A pair of steeds charge forward pulling the chariot of Winged Victory to glory. 20th Century Engraved plaque on the front reads: Char De La Victoire, Par L. et F.Moreau M'lle D'or. Signed on the dial "Sylvia"? Maker's mark on the movement is a JS inside an oval and the casting is marked "France."
A Chelsea ships bells clock on a solid brass and mahogany mounted stand and a silvered dial with applied on bronzed Arabic numerals. The bronzed finish appears to be the original lacquer surface. The case is 13" in height, 14" long and 6 1/2" deep. The serial number on the ships bells clock works is 84,656. The entire diameter of the dial is 8 1/2" across.
