Charles Woodbury (1863-1940) a Massachusetts born artist who became a leader of the Artist Colony in Ogunquit, Maine. Woodbury's formal art training began in 1890 in Paris. Returning to Boston he became a prominent plein-air and impressionist painter. He was the youngest person ever elected to the Boston Art Club. He taught more than 4,000 students (including Wellesley College), had more than 100 solo exhibits, and wrote three important art education books.
