This accomplished masterpiece oil by woman American born artist Muriel Wilson has site measurements of 31 1/2" X 45 1/2". Wilson was born July 21, 1892 and studied at the Crystal Palace. Active as a printmaker and watercolorist, her most confident style is expressed with her large, bold oils on canvasses. Oil on board of a market scene signed, lower right "Asphodel", attributed to Asphodel Fleischmann, a listed American landscape painter who worked in England between about 1931-1939, working from Chetwode Manor, Buckingham. Fleischmann has exhibited at the Beau Arts Gallery on Bond Street 57 times, the Goupil Gallery 10 times, the New English Art Club twice, and four times at the Society of Women Artists. Dates about 1930-1940. Measures 20" X 16".

Dame Walker (1861-1951) was born in Edinburgh, trained at The Putney School and Slade School, studied with Whistler. She was obviously influenced by her contemporary impressionists. She was knighted in 1943 and studied at the Westminster School under Fred Brown and James Whistler.
