A fine bronze gilt mantel of cabinet clock showing a lion carrying the clock within an exotic forested environment with a frog, a snail and a lizard. This rare clock is what one would expect from post Renaissance France, yet the clock is apparently English, with a balance wheel mechanism and fusee and a yet to be determined repeat mechanism of some kind. 15" High by 11" X 7". The case has been re gilt, and a number of the case screws are obviously not of an 18th century origin. R ...click for details

A very handsome solid walnut Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania tall clock by John Murphy. There are several John Murphys listed as working in Pennsylvania, but we favor the attribution to Johannes Murphy (who signed as "John"). Johannes Murphy, worked in Allentown and Northampton between 1790 and 1810. The subtleties of the case distinguish this as Lehigh Valley: the tapered molded scrolls of the bonnet, the use of five finials on the bonnet, the use of very thick solid woods in construction ...click for details
