A Federal American gaming table, possibly of New England origins. The intricate swag inlay with a central star and oval inlays on the pilasters above the squared tapered legs and the ovoulo top form all suggest a sophisticated cabinetmaker working in one of the population centers such as Boston or Baltimore. An American slant front desk of the Federal era, ca 1800-1820. A solid mahogany desk with a hinged writing surface opening above four graduated drawers. A non-stepped interior of curly maple with drawers and a prospect door. The original splayed French feet emerge below inlaid maple banding. Repairs and restorations are relatively minor and include replaced losses of some banding inlay, repair of writing surface door hinges, and thumbnail moldings. A 17th century American Delaware Valley walnut dresser table, 29 1/2" high and 37" X 21". This unusual solid walnut dresser or side table has a single drawer in the frame whose three piece top has a generous overhang. The turned legs suggest an early 18th century origin. The three piece top may have had the rear most piece replaced with a slightly smaller strip long ago. This Hepplewhite chest is probably from the workshops of Michael Allison (1800-1845) who was a contemporary and neighbor of Duncan Phyfe and produced work that showed him to be an excellent and popular cabinetmaker. At the Metropolitan Museum of Art there is a chest with eagle brasses with the Allison label as well as a worktable-desk.Dates about 1815. Measures 45" wide X 22 ½" deep X 44" tall. RL*
