$1,800.00

A sundial in the armillary sphere style. Sometimes armillary sundials were made with numerous rings which early astronomers used to observe planets and stars. This simple version will tell time with the sun's shadow when set up correctly. The points of the engraved compass on the base need to be oriented correctly with the actual North. The columnar base, cast concrete, is associated, and the patinated sundial is not attached to the base, but instead attached to a heavy base. A great garden ...click for details

$400.00

An especially attractive sterling dish, probably intended for butter, with a knife/spreader, all in the original handsome leather bound and silk lined presentation box. Since the pattern of the knife handle does not match the dish perfectly, and so this may be a substitute for the original. The box, which is in excellent condition, identifies "Kirk & Co. Art Jewelers" as the purveyor, although the maker's hallmark is not clear. RL*

$350.00

The four shell form salts are matching, all with a "J. H." maker's hallmark and with the 1898 hallmark date for Birmingham, but the five shell form spoons, one more than the set requires, consist of three with twisted shafts which we think go with the set, while the other two do not match the set, and are therefore associated. The presentation box, in fair condition, is somewhat warped and although the black leather surface has been refreshed and is original, is not in excellent co ...click for details
