An outstanding example of early Tunbridge ware inlay box with the "tumbling boxes" pattern in excellent condition with the inset tray complete and interior with original reddish paper lining and only a very few minor old inlay repairs. Lock but no key.
A semi-circular carved oak fragment OF 17TH or 18th century vintage, 14" X 29". This depicts the Old Testament story wherein Joshua and Caleb "...cut down a cluster of grapes which was so large that 2 men carried it between them hanging from a staff..." Uncertain of age, but the bas relief carving shows the men dressed in 17th century garb. There is a panel mounted on the back, reinforcing a repair to the once broken solid oak crest.
