This painted with nine colorful birds perched on a flowering spring branch. The style very typical of the last half od the 1800s, or "Arts and Crafts" style. A satinwood and other wood page turner or "reader" that served as an aid to one reading the newspaper or any large portfolio, which would briskly turn pages while reading as well as serve to serve as a guide in keepin the place for reading.

SOLD 

A sampler in a rosewood frame, 25" X 21" and of fine quality, done by Mary Ann Clifton in 1826. Shows her home, parents, a multitude of flowers, tree of life, horned beasts, and birds. In original rosewood and gilt wood frame, but was removed recently for conservation. Minor flaws could be seen in enlarged focus.

A pair of glass parade canes each decorated with swirled colors and about 38" long. Parade canes were used for ceremonial purposes in the mid 19th century as well as decoration and memorabilia.They were hand made and many originated in New Jersey in the mid 1800s.Priced for the pair but make an offer on a single cane if you like.

A folk art like painted box, 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" X 6", with a hinged lid opening upward. The middle 1800s decoration is in very good original condition, with the original interior lining and the back covered with paper.

SOLD 

A fine inlay mahogany Georgian knife box offering an original interior with slotted receptacles for knives, spoons, and other sterling dining utensils. Most knife boxes have altered or missing interiors, but not this one. The upward opening lid opens reveals inlay on the inside lid in addition to the exterior casement. Late 18th or early 19th century, and of superior craftsmanship. The lock, now damaged, has the keyhole covered with an engraved silver shield.

A semi-circular carved oak fragment OF 17TH or 18th century vintage, 14" X 29". This depicts the Old Testament story wherein Joshua and Caleb "...cut down a cluster of grapes which was so large that 2 men carried it between them hanging from a staff..." Uncertain of age, but the bas relief carving shows the men dressed in 17th century garb. There is a panel mounted on the back, reinforcing a repair to the once broken solid oak crest.

A great looking, decorative 13" brass coffee pot which we believe is Dutch, ca 1800. A few dents here and there- around the bottom edge, the tip of the spout, and the top rim- all of which gives character, authenticating its possible 200 year age.
